Donations can be made to support the Grant Applications below from May 26, 2025 through July 31, 2025. Organizations will receive funding when the opportunity closes, or when the grant is fully funded, whichever comes first!

Sandalwood Community Food Pantry

Food Insecurity

Funds for Pantry Design Plan and Land Preparation
Sandalwood Community Food Pantry's request is for funding to support facility costs for its new “Resilient Pantry” on Hilton Head Island. This new sustainable pantry will serve low-income, minority, and immigrant populations by providing food distribution, extended service hours, and community outreach. Requested funds will support design planning, site preparation, and infrastructure development, including hydrological consulting and land clearing. The eco-conscious, permanent facility will offer a safe and reliable location for food assistance on land leased from the Town of Hilton Head Island for up to 50 years.

Beaufort Memorial Hospital Endowment Foundation

Health

Crisis Stabilization Unit for Emergency Department
Beaufort Memorial Hospital is developing a dedicated Crisis Stabilization Unit (based on the national EmPATH model) to serve individuals experiencing acute mental health crises. The unit will improve patient outcomes, speed up time to psychiatric care, reduce emergency department congestion, and enhance safety for both patients and staff. The EmPATH model is nationally validated and would represent a major improvement to mental health emergency care throughout the county. This request directly addresses mental health needs and has the potential to deliver durable long-term impact. The facility is expected to be operational before January 2026.

Memory Matters

Health

Respite and Early Intervention Programs Expansion
Memory Matters requests funds to expand its Bluffton-based dementia support programs, increasing respite day programming from two to three days weekly and adding a fourth day for their early intervention class. The expansion will offer structured cognitive engagement for individuals with Alzheimer’s and Related Dementias (ADRD) and respite for their caregivers.

Lowcountry Legal Volunteers

Human Services

LLV Wills and Heirs Property Program
Lowcountry Legal Volunteers’ request is for funding to launch a Wills and Heirs Property Program that will provide free legal services to help families secure generational landownership through estate planning and legal education. The grant will support a new staff attorney who will provide wills, power of attorney, and property agreements, alongside legal consultations and estate planning workshops. Funding is also requested for consultant fees for clinics led by the Lowcountry Gullah Foundation. Lowcountry Legal Volunteers expects to serve at least 100 families over the 12-month grant period as they partner with other organizations that serve the native island community.

The Hilton Head Island Deep Well Project

Human Services

New Pathways: A Deep Well + Bluffton Self Help Initiative
The Hilton Head Island Deep Well Project, in partnership with Bluffton Self Help (BSH), seeks funding to support the creation of a new, shared service center on Hilton Head Island. This facility will address a space shortage currently limiting both organizations’ ability to expand educational programs and personalized client services such as financial literacy, GED preparation, ESL, and case management. The proposed 6,000-square-foot space will be jointly staffed and programmed, allowing both nonprofits to better serve clients while maximizing efficiency through co-location.

HELP of Beaufort

Transportation

Connecting North to South of the Broad
HELP of Beaufort requests funds to launch a new transportation assistance initiative aimed at helping low-income residents living north of the Broad River maintain employment opportunities south of the Broad. The project would provide gas cards ($100/month per client, verified monthly) to help offset commuting costs for low-wage workers, including single parents, seniors, and other vulnerable groups who work in Bluffton or Hilton Head. This initiative addresses a critical barrier to employment (transportation affordability) offsetting increased needs such as food security for working families. The program will be carefully managed by volunteers with human resources expertise to ensure accountability, eligibility tracking, and monthly re-verification.

BlacQuity

Workforce Development

Black Equity Mastery – For Seasoned Entrepreneurs
BlacQuity’s request is to expand their workforce development support and entrepreneurship opportunities for black-owned businesses in southern Beaufort County. The proposed Black Entrepreneurial Institute and Community Innovation Lab will provide a year-long, cohort-based business training program that offers practical education, mentorship, and access to startup resources for aspiring business owners. The project aims to close persistent opportunity gaps by equipping entrepreneurs with the skills, networks, and tools needed to create sustainable small businesses that contribute to local economic vitality. BlacQuity has already supported over 100 emerging businesses through earlier phases of work and has cultivated partnerships with business leaders, educational institutions, and community advocates to strengthen its programming. The organization emphasizes building a more inclusive, resilient local economy by supporting homegrown talent and reducing barriers to entry for historically underserved entrepreneurs.
